Two men steal purse from woman with a cane in downtown Winnipeg

A Winnipeg woman in her 60s was robbed at knifepoint while walking southbound on the first 100 block of Smith Street towards Assiniboine Avenue on Wednesday evening. The incident involved two men who threatened the woman, who was using a cane and took the contents of her purse.

Police met with the victim, who reported that the suspects threatened her with a knife, stole the contents of her purse, and then discarded the bag before fleeing south on Smith Street. The woman recovered her purse and did not require medical assistance.

The suspects are described as males in their late teens. The first suspect is a white male, approximately 5-foot-7 with a thin build, wearing a black shirt and dark pants. The second suspect is an Indigenous male, also about 5-foot-7 with a thin build, and wearing a dark hoodie.
