A student has been charged after a Winnipeg School Division high school was locked down and police were called because a threat against another student was discovered.

The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a threat made through a note found in a school bathroom on Sept. 23.

The school initiated lockdown protocols while police searched for the student suspected of writing the note. At 1:07 p.m., officers arrested the student without incident on Cecil Street. Following the arrest, the school lifted the lockdown and no injuries were reported.

The Major Crimes Unit is handling the investigation. The student has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and was released on an Undertaking, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
