Winnipeg police said while officers were en route to reports of a stabbing in the 800 block of Main Street at about 5 p.m., they found a woman matching the description of the suspect holding an edged weapon at the corner of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue. She was arrested and remains in custody.

Officers were approached on scene by a 41-year-old man who said he’d been stabbed, while a 34-year-old male victim with an upper-body injury from being stabbed was located nearby, police said in a release.

Officers provided medical care for both victims, including a tourniquet for the 41-year-old. They were taken to hospital and are in stable condition, police said.

Police believe the woman was walking in a lane behind Main Street when a confrontation with the 34-year-old occcurred. She fled on foot and then stabbed the 41-year-old “without provocation.”

The woman faces two counts each of assault with a weapon and failing to comply with condition of a release order.
