The funding is designed to help Manitoba businesses sell their products or services outside the province. Two funding streams are available. The Export Development Program reimburses companies for their participation in trade shows or missions outside Manitoba. The Incoming Buyer Program offers reimbursement to local companies that bring international buyers to the province with the aim of purchasing Manitoba products.

Teaghan Wellman, executive vice president of Cypher Environmental, credited the Export Development Program with helping the company enter new markets. Wellman said this support enabled Cypher Environmental to take advantage of international trade shows and missions, accelerating their growth and expanding their global reach.

Since March, 45 companies have benefitted, allowing them to attend 74 events, including trade shows, missions, and conventions. This effort has helped Manitoba businesses form key partnerships, strengthening their presence in national and international markets.

Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources Minister Jamie Moses said this initiative aligns with Manitoba’s new trade strategy, which aims to attract investment, increase exports, and expand the province’s global presence. Industry roundtables are planned in the coming months to build on recent trade missions and ongoing efforts by the premier’s business and jobs council.

Applications for the export support program are open, providing businesses the opportunity to take advantage of this funding. Further details can be found on the Manitoba government’s website.
