The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was kept busy Thursday night into Friday morning battling five separate fires in less than eight hours.
The first fire broke out in a single-storey commercial warehouse just before 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Smoke and flames were coming from the building when crews arrived. However, they were able to get it under control quickly.
No injuries were reported.
About an hour later, shortly after 8 p.m. a second fire broke out in a single-family bungalow in the 100 block of Dearborn Avenue.
When crews arrived, the fire had extended to a neighbouring home. Both homes sustained significant damage.
The residents of both homes were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived.
No one was injured.
Just before midnight, fire crews were called to a blaze in a vacant two-storey house in the 600 block of Westminster Avenue.
Flames and smoke were pouring out of the home. It was declared under control at around 12:45 a.m.
No one was in the home and no injuries were reported.
The structure had sustained damage in two previous fires in August 2022 and May 2023.
Meanwhile, about an hour and a half later at 1:24 a.m. a fire broke out in the attached garage of a two-storey home in the Southboine area on Kinkora Drive.
The fire quickly spread to the home. Crews initially fought the fire from outside but quickly moved inside when it was safe to enter.
All occupants of the house were able to evacuate safely. No injuries were reported.
The last fire broke out just before 3 a.m. in a garage in the 500 block of Polson Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found a garage engulfed in flames, with fire extending to a second garage.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of all five fires remains under investigation.
