Locals rally for ceasefire in Gaza

Upwards of 35 Palestine supporters rallied for a ceasefire in Gaza on a Jewish holiday Saturday.

B’nai Brith Canada, a Jewish human rights organization, shared its concerns about the “anti-Israel march” on social media.

The organization called it an “intentional act of intimidation on one of the holiest days of the Jewish calendar,” Yom Kippur.

Authorities had been notified, B’nai Brith wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

However, the rally at a Kenaston Boulevard Superstore was not intentionally placed on Yom Kippur, according to event organizer Ramsey Zeid.

The group meets every Saturday with posters and flags to call for a ceasefire.

“When we rally, we rally against the Israeli government and Zionists,” Zeid said. “Judaism and Zionism are not the same thing.”

Police were monitoring the rally, which appeared peaceful.
