A second suspect was arrested Tuesday in the murder of a 20-year-old man late last year whose body was dumped outside a North End church.

Winnipeg police said a 26-year-old woman has been charged with first degree murder after her Oct. 15 arrest at Headingley Women’s Corrections Centre, where she was being held on an unrelated matter. She remains in custody.

A 36-year-old man was arrested July 7 and also charged with first degree murder in the Dec. 30 death of Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert. Investigators believe Hiebert was assaulted while in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue, which caused fatal injuries. His lifeless body was then abandoned nearby in the 200 block of Flora Avenue, police said.

The investigation continues.
