Winnipeg police search for suspect involved in daytime stabbing in St. Boniface

Winnipeg police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed during broad daylight in St. Boniface. 

Officers were called to the 100 block of Dumoulin shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday where they found a 24-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. 

They applied a chest seal to the victim while they waited for paramedics to arrive. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable. He remains in hospital.

Investigators say the suspect and the victim were together at Orange Park, near St. Joseph Street and Notre Dame Street, when they began fighting. It escalated to the point where the victim was stabbed several times. The suspect fled before police arrived.

Police have since located and seized the weapon but continue to search for the suspect. 

He is described as an Indigenous male, between 20-25 years old, approximately 5’5” in height with long black hair, worn in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and khaki pants.
