Police instructed the suspect to drop the weapon, he refused to comply and attempted to stab the officers, prompting them to deploy several Tasers in an effort to subdue him. With the assistance of multiple officers, the man was safely disarmed and taken into custody. He was medically assessed by attending members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and cleared with no reported injuries.

The residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and no other injuries were reported.

Upon investigation, officers discovered that the same man had caused significant property damage and fled the same residence on Oct. 19 after a separate domestic incident. The suspect returned to the unoccupied residence on Oct. 20, leading to the break-in report.

The 36-year-old Winnipegger faces several charges including assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, uttering threats, resisting arrest, domestic assault, and mischief over $5,000.
