A 31-year-old man was charged hours after a brawl on April 21 sent one person to hospital, Winnipeg police say.

A 31-year-old Winnipeg man was charged hours after a brawl sent one man to hospital on April 21, police said on Friday.

The man was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon and was detained in custody, police said.

The brawl broke out shortly after midnight in the parking lot by the Smitty’s restaurant on St. James Street, police previously said.

A group of people were involved in the incident and someone took out “an edged weapon,” police said.

One man was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition after the incident, police said.
