On average, more than 4,000 Manitobans choose a safe ride home with Operation Red Nose annually. In doing so, they make our roads safer for everyone.
Operation Red Nose, a designated driver service that ensures both you and your vehicle arrive home safely, is set to operate in 8 communities throughout the province. While the service is offered free of charge, donations are gladly accepted and all money raised supports various community-based youth programs.
“Operation Red Nose is a national program supported by local communities and provides Manitobans with road safety every holiday season. We are proud to facilitate this on behalf of Manitoba Public Insurance and our supporting partners,” says Ron Janzen, President and CEO of Safety Services Manitoba.

“The 2024 campaign will see 8 communities operating in Manitoba. Hundreds of volunteers, along with provincial and local sponsors make offering this program a success year after year. Road safety, volunteerism, and giving back to our communities all come together with this special holiday service.”
From November 29 to December 31, those in need of a safe ride home in Winnipeg can call 204-947-NOSE (6673) to connect with the Red Nose Hotline between 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. A volunteer drive team, consisting of three individuals, will be dispatched to the pick-up location. Two of the drive team members will drive you and your guests home in your vehicle while the third team member follows in the team escort vehicle.
MPI, the founding provincial sponsor, is once again providing support as the local chapter sponsor of Operation Red Nose in Manitoba.

“MPI is proud to support Operation Red Nose, which has become a holiday tradition that helps saves lives,” said Satvir Jatana, President & CEO of Manitoba Public Insurance. “Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of fatalities on our roads throughout the province. Through this important program, we’re making responsible choices behind the wheel easier and more accessible to ensure everyone gets home safe this season.”
Operation Red Nose is only one way that MPI and Safety Services Manitoba work together to promote safe driving and education for all. “We are incredibly fortunate to have MPI’s support, not only with Operation Red Nose but also in our many joint initiatives throughout the calendar year,” said Janzen. “Our goal with this holiday season partnership is to prevent impaired driving accidents in a non judgmental manner by enabling communities to provide this free and confidential service.”
In 2024, other participating Manitoba communities are Flin Flon, Gimli, Portage la Prairie, La Broquerie/Steinbach, Saint-Malo, The Pas and Thompson.
