Officers from multiple divisions, supported by the Tactical Support Team and the Canine Unit, converged on the scene. A perimeter was established, and the building, along with surrounding areas, was searched. No suspect was found, and no injuries were reported.

In the interest of public safety, police issued an Alert Ready broadcast through the Province’s Emergency Management Organization and shared updates on social media. This marked the third time the emergency alert system was used in Winnipeg. Authorities emphasized that the decision to use the system was based on the information provided by the 911 caller.

The situation has since been resolved, and police have determined there is no immediate threat to public safety. However, members of the Tactical Support Team and General Patrol Units remain on campus as a precaution. As of 1 p.m., their presence continues, with no timeline for their departure.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation. While no arrests have been made, police are working to verify the initial report and are in contact with the 911 caller. They also seek information from anyone with video surveillance or additional details.

The University of Manitoba Student Union reported speaking with a student who claimed to have been assaulted, but police have not confirmed any assault linked to the incident. Investigators urge anyone with information to contact them at 204-986-6219 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The investigation is ongoing.
