Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday at 4:36 a.m. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service informed police that they were providing emergency care to a man in the 900 block of Dugas Street who had been assaulted.

Police said the man had suffered serious injuries from the assault. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. The victim has not yet been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
