Loblaw Companies is pulling more products from its stores as a nationwide salmonella outbreak continues to grow.

The recall now includes D. Effe T.-brand Lemon Delight and Tartlet with Forest Fruits after food inspectors found possible contamination.
The affected pastries were sold at grocery stores in Ontario between December 2024 and January 2025. They were available at Loblaws, Your Independent Grocer, Fortinos, Valu-Mart, and Zehrs locations. Since the products were sold at service counters in smaller, unlabeled packages, customers may have difficulty identifying them by brand or lot number. Health officials recommend checking with the store or discarding any similar items.
This recall follows an earlier one involving Sweet Cream-brand mini pastries, which have been linked to the same outbreak. Many of the reported cases involved people who ate these pastries at catered events or food establishments.

Health officials report 69 confirmed salmonella infections and 22 hospitalizations across five provinces. Symptoms can appear within six to 72 hours and include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. While most people recover without treatment, young children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems face greater risks.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is continuing its investigation and may issue further recalls. Loblaw is advising customers to destroy or return the affected products for a full refund. More information is available on the company’s website or through customer service.
