The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have added a key veteran to their receiving corps, signing national receiver Drew Wolitarsky after his release from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Wolitarsky, 29, spent the past seven seasons with the Blue Bombers, playing 96 games and recording 227 receptions for 2,954 yards and 18 touchdowns. Last season, he suited up in 10 games, hauling in 33 catches for 403 yards and one touchdown.
Wolitarsky was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on January 27. He was reportedly due a five-figure roster bonus on the following Saturday.
“I’ve known Drew for seven years, and he has the most magnetic personality I’ve ever come across,” said Tiger-Cats general manager Ted Goveia. “In addition to being an extremely talented football player, Drew has a natural ability to lead and unite a football team.”
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound receiver was originally selected by the Blue Bombers in the 2017 Supplemental Draft. Born in Santa Clarita, Calif., Wolitarsky qualifies as a national under CFL rules due to his Montreal-born mother. Before joining the CFL, he played four seasons at the University of Minnesota, where he recorded 130 catches for 1,749 yards with the Golden Gophers.
Hamilton adds a proven playmaker as they look to bolster their offence heading into the 2025 CFL season.
