Police followed the vehicle to Burrows and Parr, where they said a man exited the vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, and began running before he was apprehended nearby. He was identified as a suspect in the April 26 homicide of Bill Brian Duck, the city’s 13th homicide of 2024.

The 50-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested on the strength of a warrant for second-degree murder and charged with second-degree murder, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a scheduled substance.

Police said the accused and the victim were not known to each other.

Duck was found in a residence in the 600 block of Flora Avenue where police performed emergency medical care for a serious gunshot wound before Duck was taken to hospital in critical condition where he later died from his injuries.
