U-Haul has stepped up to help tenants of Birchwood Terrace after they were forced to evacuate their suites Thursday evening.
The popular rental company is offering 30 days of free self-storage to help displaced residents of 2440 Portage Avenue.
Birchwood Terrace residents were given less than 24 hours to gather their belongings and leave the building after it was deemed unsafe.
This resulted in hundreds of residents with moving trucks full of personal belongings with nowhere to go.
Ryan Pearson, president of the U-Haul Company of Central Canada says that his team at U-Haul Moving and Storage on Notre Dame Avenue can offer a free month of self-storage to any tenants in need of a secure location to keep their belongings.
“We want the city and the displaced tenants to know we are here to support them,” said Pearson.
The 30-day free offer applies to new storage rentals and is based on availability at the Notre Dame store.
Tenants seeking more information are encouraged to call (204) 515-0861.
