Officers attended immediately and determined that the injured 58-year-old woman was canoeing with her 61-year-old husband. There was high wind and cooler temperatures on the lake when the canoe capsized. The woman was able to swim to shore.

The man was located deceased in the water by officers and it appears that he drowned. An autopsy will be conducted, RCMP said.

Both individuals, from Winnipeg, were wearing lifejackets when the canoe capsized.

The woman remains in hospital.
