Lac du Bonnet woman killed, Tyndall man badly injured in Highway 11 crash: Manitoba RCMP

A 30-year-old woman is dead and a 45-year-old man is badly injured after a two-vehicle crash in eastern Manitoba on Tuesday, RCMP say.

Whitemouth RCMP were called around 4:40 p.m. with a report of a collision on Highway 11 near Provincial Road 307, about 15 kilometres south of Lac du Bonnet.

Police found a pickup truck and a car in the northbound lane of Highway 11, and determined the pickup truck was driving south on Highway 11 before it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the car.

The woman driving the car, from the rural municipality of Lac du Bonnet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 45-year-old man from Tyndall, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital, RCMP said in a Wednesday news release.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, RCMP said.

An RCMP forensic collision reconstructionist and the RCMP’s criminal collision investigative team are helping with the ongoing investigation, police said.
