Winnipeg man facing luring charges after teens sexually assaulted

A 22-year-old man posing as a teen has been charged after two female victims in their early teens were lured through social media before they were sexually assaulted, Winnipeg police said.

The sex crimes unit began investigating two separate incidents in April, learning an adult male posing as a 17-year-old lured the victims through social media, forming relationships and gaining their trust, police said Thursday in a news release.

A man was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault, and two counts each of sexual interference and luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication.

He was released on a court order prohibiting contact with individuals under 18, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
