A 42-year-old woman who was the subject of a missing person alert after leaving Winnipeg’s Grace Hospital before receiving medical care on the weekend has been found safe.

The woman was airlifted to the city from a remote northern community on Sunday but walked away from the hospital later that evening, police said in a news release on Monday.

Hospital staff told police around 8 p.m. Sunday that she was missing.

Police issued an updated release on Tuesday to say the woman has been found and is safe.

No information was provided on when or where she was located.

A previous version of this story included the woman’s name and photograph. Those have been removed, now that she is found, in order to protect her privacy.
