No charges expected after woman, 19, hit by car on Pembina Highway

A 19-year-old woman hit by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg ran into road, leaving no time for the driver to avoid a collision, police say.

The woman was initially sent to hospital in unstable condition but is now listed as stable.

No charges are expected to be laid, police said in a news release on Monday.

Emergency crews were called just after 2 p.m. to the northbound lanes of Pembina Highway, approaching Oakenwald Avenue.

The adult driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and spoke with investigators.

A stretch of Pembina was closed for some time following the incident.
