Fire crews were expected to remain at the scene of a fire on Logan Avenue for much of Monday.
Firefighters were sent to the three-storey commercial building on the 1000 block of Logan at 4:35 a.m. Smoke from the fire was visible from many areas of the city later in the morning.
Crews fought the flames from outside the building, using aerial ladders to douse the blaze with water. The building is attached to G&L Sales, a liquidation store.

The rail line running through the property was shut down while firefighters were at the scene.
Earlier, at 2:33 a.m., firefighters were sent to a fire in another commercial building, on the 900 block of Erin Street. Crews initially fought the fire from inside but moved outside when it became unsafe. The blaze was declared under control at 4:35 a.m., the same time crews were sent to the Logan Avenue fire.
The building sustained significant fire, water and smoke damage, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said in a news release.
Crews were sent to the scene of a garage fire on the 1400 block of Alexander Avenue at 1:41 a.m. Crews brought the fire, which had started to spread to the adjacent house, under control at 2:30 a.m.
At 8:06 p.m. Sunday, crews were sent to a vacant, two-and-a-half storey house on the 300 block of McGee Street after city police officers spotted a fire. The fire was declared under control at 10:13 p.m.
Crews were sent to a two-storey commercial building on the first 100 block of Higgins Avenue at 11:28 p.m. Saturday. The fire was put out by 12:06 a.m.
Fire crews were sent to a two-storey home on the 100 block of Notre Dame Avenue at 12:52 a.m. Saturday. The fire was put out by 1:57 a.m. One person was assessed by paramedics but was not transported to hospital. An initial investigation suggests the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction.
The causes of the other fires remain under investigation.
