Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Tyndall Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:26 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey townhouse in the 0-100 block of Tyndall Avenue.

When they arrived on scene, crews found smoke coming from the building. They launched a fire attack, using water and foam to extinguish the fire. The fire was declared under control at 11:52 p.m.

Some residents self-evacuated before crews arrived, while others were helped out by firefighters. Four people were assessed by paramedics on scene. One person was transported to hospital in unstable condition and one person was transported in stable condition.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to assist displaced residents find temporary accommodations.

Most of the damage was contained to the suite where the fire started. No damage estimates are available at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
