Winnipeg, MB – Eleven City-owned community centres will receive funding for renovations through the City of Winnipeg’s Community Centre Renovation Grant Program (CCRGP).
“These grants play a crucial role in ensuring our community centres remain safe, welcoming, and vibrant spaces for all Winnipeggers,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “By investing in these facilities, we are investing in the well-being of our neighbourhoods. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these renovations will have on our communities.”
“Most Winnipeggers will utilize a community centre at some point, whether it’s for sports, recreation, or to gather with friends and family,” said Evan Duncan, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services. “We are grateful for the tireless work volunteers put in to keep these spaces running. As a show of support from Council, we will continue to invest in critical facility upgrades through the Community Centre Renovation Grant Program.”
The community centres receiving grants totaling $809,762 are:
- Assiniboia West
- Bord-Aire
- Bronx Park
- Garden City
- Linden Woods
- Lord Roberts
- Norquay
- River Osborne
- South Winnipeg – Waverley Site
- St. Norbert
- Whyte Ridge
The program ensures that City-owned, board-run community centres can access much-needed assistance required to complete facility repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements, and renovation projects.
The program has two intake periods each year: a spring intake in March and a fall intake in October. Since the program’s inception in 2012, the City has invested over $17.4 million towards community centre renovations across Winnipeg.
