Teen boy injured in armed home invasion at North End residence

A teenage boy suffered serious injuries following an armed home invasion at a North End residence on Wednesday night, Winnipeg Police said.

At around 11 p.m., police were called to the report of a home invasion at a residence in the 500 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy who had injuries to his upper body that were weapon-related although not from a firearm, police said. He was taken to hospital, where he was treated and upgraded to stable condition.

Police said an initial investigation has determined the victim and other occupants were inside the residence when a home invasion incident occurred. A group of armed suspects entered the home and fired shots. Nobody was struck but the youth was assaulted. they fled.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over this investigation and continues to seek suspect information.
