Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Stella Avenue fire
At 4:45 p.m., WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 700 block of Stella Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. They entered and fought the fire from the interior, declaring it under control at 5:07 p.m.
Crews competed a search of the residence and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Powers Street fire
At 11:19 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a 12-storey high-rise in the 100 block of Powers Street.
Once on scene, crews investigated and found a fire in one of the suites. They quickly brought it under control. No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage was contained to the suite where the fire originated.
