Arrest made in February homicide: Winnipeg Police

An arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred in February, Winnipeg Police said Friday.

On Feb. 25 at around 11:20 p.m., Winnipeg Police were called to the area of Maryland Street and Wellington Avenue for the report of an injured man.

When General Patrol officers responded, they located the man, and provided emergency medical care. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

He was later identified as 26-year-old Kevin Delaney Flett, a member of St. Theresa Point First Nation.

The investigation by members of the Homicide Unit determined that the deceased was assaulted with a weapon and sustained a fatal injury.

On Friday, Winnipeg Police arrested a 30-years-old who had been wanted in connection with the homicide and charged him with second-degree murder.

He has been detained in custody.
