An RCMP underwater recovery team pulled the vehicle from a pond with tracks leading into it at about noon on Tuesday in the Molson, Man., area, about 60 km east of Winnipeg.

A body inside is believed to be the remains of Brittany Dawn Storey, 29, who was reported missing on June 6. Identification will be confirmed by autopsy, RCMP said Tuesday night in a news release.

Police were told last week that Storey was near Rennie, Man. — about 70 km east from Molson — in a group chat with friend when she told them she had struck a tree and the call was lost. Despite repeated attempts, no one was able to reach her on the phone again.

RCMP said Monday information led them to the Molson area. Whitemouth RCMP continue to investigate.
