Manitoba RCMP to speak on anniversary of Carberry crash

The officer in charge of the Manitoba RCMP’s major crime services is set to speak to media on the eve of a tragic anniversary.

Although police said they have no specific investigational updates to provide, Supt. Rob Lasson will answer questions about the fatal 2023 crash that killed 17 seniors near Carberry, Man., and speak about the lasting effect the experience has had on local first responders.

Dauphin marking 6 months since devastating Carberry crash

The incident, which took place on the afternoon of June 15 last year, involved a bus full of Dauphin, Man., seniors, who were on a casino trip when it was hit by a semi-trailer at Highway 5 and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Dauphin, a city of 8,000 three-and-a-half hours northwest of Winnipeg, is set to unveil a monument to those killed in the tragedy on Saturday.
