On June 12 at approximately 2:00 p.m., West District Community Support Unit officers proactively patrolling the Osborne Village neighbourhood observed an adult male loitering in the 400 block of River Avenue. Officers initiated field contact with the male, which led to an investigation and the subsequent discovery of a sawed-off shotgun concealed in the backpack he was wearing. Officers seized the firearm as evidence and placed the male under arrest without incident.

Wayne Richard SINCLAIR, 37, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order.

He was detained in custody.
