The 16th Annual Duff Roblin Award Dinner, recognizing Mr. Doer’s exceptional contributions, is scheduled for Nov. 7, at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre in Winnipeg. This award is named after Dr. Duff Roblin, Manitoba’s premier from 1958 to 1967 and has previously been given to leaders such as Gail Asper, Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, and Ruth Hastings.

“We are incredibly proud to recognize such a respected and accomplished Manitoban,” said Scott Oake, co-chair of the Duff Roblin Award Dinner in a release Friday. “Mr. Doer’s extensive political career, his tenure as Canada’s ambassador to the United States, and his steadfast support of our UWinnipeg community exemplify why he is truly deserving of this honour.”

Doer’s political journey began in the 1973 general election campaign under Ed Schreyer’s leadership, culminating in his leadership of the NDP to three majority governments during his decade-long premiership starting in 1999.

“The Duff Roblin Award Dinner not only celebrates philanthropy but also highlights UWinnipeg’s pivotal role in Manitoba and beyond,” said Danny Bubis, co-chair of the Duff Roblin award dinner and chair of the foundation investment committee. “It’s an opportunity to express our gratitude to our supporters and showcase the transformative impact of their contributions over the past 57 years.”

Established in 2007, the Duff Roblin Award recognizes leaders whose careers, volunteerism, or philanthropy have significantly influenced education in Manitoba. The inaugural recipient was Dr. Duff Roblin himself, reflecting his enduring legacy.
