Police responded to reports of a male and a female engaged in a heated verbal dispute shortly after boarding the bus. The situation escalated when the pair disembarked, prompting the bus operator to secure the vehicle by locking its doors. Subsequently, the male suspect attempted to re-enter the bus but was refused access.

In response, he pulled out a large knife and proceeded to damage multiple bus windows. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among passengers or transit staff.

Police officers quickly located and apprehended both individuals involved. The male suspect, identified as a 19-year-old, was charged with possession of a weapon and mischief under $5,000. He was later released pending further legal proceedings.

The female, aged 16, was detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act due to her state at the time of the incident.

“We take incidents involving weapons very seriously,” stated a Winnipeg Police spokesperson. “Our officers responded quickly to ensure the safety of all involved and to apprehend those responsible.”

Winnipeg Police encourages anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in their inquiries.
