Police investigate stabbing that sent woman to hospital

Winnipeg Police are investigating after officers met the victim of a stabbing at the hospital on Monday.

The victim, in her 30s, told police that at around 4 p.m., she was walking along Bannatyne Avenue towards King Street after work. As she was waiting to cross the street, she was hit from behind by a female on a bike. The suspect then allegedly stabbed her and rode away.

The victim ran to a bus for safety, made it home, and then went to the hospital for treatment.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing this investigation, and initial information has determined that this incident was unprovoked and that the suspect was not known.
