Pilot injured after crop dusting plane crashes north of Gimli

A 33-year-old pilot is recovering after his crop-dusting plane crashed in a field north of Gimli.

RCMP say the incident happened just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, south of the intersection of Highway 68 and Highway 233, in the RM of Bifrost.

It’s believed one of the plane’s wings hit a tree while the pilot was spraying a field. The plane crashed in a treed area, just south of the intersection.

The pilot, who was the lone occupant, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada was notified and is investigating.
