Man arrested after allegedly pointing firearm, threatening to kill

A 30-year-old man faces numerous firearms charges after police said he pointed a firearm at four people and threatened to kill them after one of them may have thrown a rock through a window.

Winnipeg Police were called to a residence in the 100 block of McKenzie Street where the incident took place at around 6:46 a.m., on Monday. After allegedly threatening them with the firearm, the suspect fled the scene, prompting the victims to call police.

Officers learned that an altercation had begun when one of the victims allegedly threw a rock through a window, police said. The suspect exited the residence with the firearm. It was determined that the suspect and the four victims may have previously known each other.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and General Patrol officers a search warrant was executed on the residence, leading to the seizure of an improvised firearm and a shotgun shell.

At shortly before 6 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody at the same location without incident.

A 30-year-old man faces numerous charges including four counts of pointing a firearm and of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was detained in police custody.
