Escaped inmates arrested by Winnipeg Police

Winnipeg Police asked for the public’s help early this week after two inmates escaped custody Monday evening while on an escorted leave from the Manitoba Youth Centre. The pair were taken back into custody Tuesday evening.

Police said they were arrested without incident.

The two were serving youth sentences at the Manitoba Youth Centre and were participating in a community program in the North End when they fled from Corrections Officers. Winnipeg Police were contacted and General Patrol officers assisted in searching numerous locations for the escapees.

Both were wanted as unlawfully-at-large.

Since they were sentenced as youth, police initially obtained a court order authorizing the release of the identities of the now-adult suspects in connection with the investigation.
