A Sandy Bay First Nation man has been charged with forcible confinement and firearms offences after RCMP said he pointed a shotgun and held a woman captive for almost a week.

On Friday at around 7:30 a.m., Ste Rose du Lac RCMP were called regarding a man discharging a firearm on Beaulieu Road, in Ebb and Flow First Nation.

RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems all were dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived, RCMP learned a 28-year-old Sandy Bay First Nation man had pointed a shotgun at people and held a woman captive against her will for five days.

Officers were able to safely take him into custody on a road in the community with live ammunition in his possession. He was charged and remanded into custody.
