Canada’s Skylar Park has advanced to taekwondo’s quarterfinals in the women’s 57-kilogram class at the Paris Olympic Games.

The 25-year-old from Winnipeg defeated Dominika Hronova of the Czech Republic 2-0 in the Round of 16 at the Grand Palais.

Park handily won the first round 6-2 and overcame a two-point deficit in the second round by a 4-3 score.

The Canadian is ranked third in the world in her division.

Park was to face 17th-ranked Kim Yujin of South Korea in the quarterfinal.

Park was eliminated in a quarterfinal three years ago in Tokyo.
