Winnipeg Transit expanding On-Request service, updating app

Winnipeg Transit On-Request is expanding and transitioning to a new app. The service, which began as a pilot in 2021, will become permanent and introduce a new zone in northwest Winnipeg, the city announced Tuesday.

“By integrating On-Request into more communities, we are making it easier for Winnipeggers to connect with jobs, education, and essential services,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham in a press release. “Enhancements like this help set the stage for the launch of our new transit network next summer.”

The service will move to the Winnipeg Transit+ On-Request app on Aug. 27. This app, which also serves Winnipeg Transit Plus, will replace the current On-Request app. Passengers are encouraged to download the new app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or use it on web browsers at winnipegtransit.com/bookonrequest.

The On-Request service will expand into a new zone, 103 Maples, Sept. 1. This zone will be available:

– Weekdays: 9:20 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. to 11 p.m.
– Weekends and holidays: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Additionally, Route 334 Adsum will connect Castlebury Meadows and Waterford Green neighborhoods to Garden City Shopping Centre during peak times.

“As one of the representatives for the northwest area, I am thrilled to announce the addition of a fourth zone to Winnipeg Transit’s On-Request service,” said Councillor Vivian Santos. “This new zone will provide enhanced transit options for our community.”

On-Request currently serves three zones:

– 101: St. Amant – Plaza Drive
– 102: Southdale – Island Lakes
– 110: St. Boniface
