Stonewall traffic stop leads to arrests and seizure of weapons and drugs

RCMP said a routine traffic stop on Highway 6 in the Rural Municipality of Woodlands on Friday afternoon resulted in the arrests of two individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of weapons, drugs and cash.

Officers arrested the driver, a 24-year-old Brandon man, and the passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Pinaymootang First Nation. A search revealed a loaded handgun, a rifle, ammunition, and suspected crack cocaine and heroin, all of which were individually bagged. Additionally, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency and various drug paraphernalia were found.

The driver faces more than 20 charges related to weapons and drugs. Authorities confirmed that he was already wanted on two warrants out of Brandon and was in breach of several conditions of a release order. The woman has been charged with eight weapon and drug offences.

Both individuals remain in custody.
