Winnipeg man, two others facing drug charges after getting in a crash

A collision led to police searching a vehicle which led to drug charges for three people this week.

Cross Lake RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Sipiseek Road around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers found open liquor inside the vehicle, which had three occupants. The 38-year-old male driver from Winnipeg was arrested for impaired driving and obstruction after police said he provided a false name.

During the investigation, one of the two 30-year-old male passengers from Winnipeg pushed an officer and attempted to disarm her. The officers were able to safely arrest the suspects without injury.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 56 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, over $13,000 in cash, and other drug-related items.

The three suspects are in custody at the Cross Lake RCMP detachment.
