Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP were alerted to a video circulating on Facebook that showed a man with a firearm on his porch in Ebb and Flow First Nation on Saturday night. The video showed the man threatening to kill an RCMP officer who was at a neighbouring residence about 20 metres away, unaware of the threats and the presence of the firearm.

RCMP officers quickly identified the location from the video and went to the property. A drone was deployed to observe the individuals inside the home. As officers issued instructions via loudspeaker, five people exited the residence, throwing items at the drone as they came out.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and weapons possession contrary to order. He remains in custody.

Keith Racette, 29, who faces the same charges as the other man, is still at large. Authorities believe Racette may still be in the community or could have travelled to Winnipeg.

Racette is described as 5-foot-9, 194 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes, a large tattoo on the left side of his neck, and a large birthmark on his left cheek. RCMP consider him dangerous and advises the public not to approach Racette if seen and to call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information on Racette’s whereabouts is urged to contact Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP at 204-447-3082, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or provide a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
