Crews respond to blazes on Langside, Archibald streets and Higgins Avenue

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to three fires late Friday and early Saturday.

After extinguishing a garbage bin fire on the 400 block of Langside Street, crews noticed smoke coming from a vacant, two-storey house around 6:12 a.m.

Using an aerial ladder truck to tackle the flames, the fire was declared under control at 7:45 a.m. The house was most recently on fire one week ago on Aug. 31, said a news release Saturday from the City of Winnipeg.

Firefighters were also tending to a fire around 4:52 a.m. in a two-storey commercial structure on Archibald Street. That blaze was extinguished just after 6 a.m.

Friday, the WFPS was called to the 100 block of Higgins Avenue for a report of an outdoor fire at a three-storey, mixed-use building.

Upon their arrival, crews found the fire extended to the building and it was declared under control at 11: 12 p.m.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fires, which are all being investigated.
