Two more people have died as a result of a head-on collision on a highway west of Lake Manitoba earlier this year.
A 36-year-old man from Langruth and a 19-year-old man from The Pas both died in hospital following the crash on March 23, Manitoba RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
The 36-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle driving north on Highway 50 when a southbound car driven by the 19-year-old crossed into the northbound lane and they crashed head-on, Mounties say.
The 19-year-old was taken to hospital in critical condition, and the seriously injured 36-year-old was also taken to hospital.
A 35-year-old woman from Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation, who was driving the northbound vehicle, died at the scene. A two-year-old boy, who was in the car with the 19-year-old, sustained minor injuries and was later released from hospital.
RCMP say the crash happened near Road 99 N., which is about 10 kilometres south Sandy Bay.
Investigators are still waiting for reports from the medical examiner’s office and a forensic collision reconstructionist.
