A 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl have been arrested in connection to a homicide in a small northern Manitoba community.

Mounties at the RCMP’s Chemawawin Cree Nation detachment responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Easterville, Man. at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, RCMP said in a Sunday news release.

When officers got there, they found a 32-year-old woman in critical condition. She was given emergency medical care but died of her injuries, RCMP said.

Mounties also found another victim a short distance away. The 35-year-old woman had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a Winnipeg hospital, RCMP said. She remains in stable condition.

The two teenage girls are in custody, and the investigation continues.

Easterville is on the southern shoreline of Cedar Lake, about 125 kilometres southeast of The Pas.
