29-year-old man in critical condition after being hit by train in Transcona

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a train in Winnipeg’s Transcona neighbourhood on Friday, police say.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a train in Winnipeg’s Transcona area on Friday, police say.

The man was walking along the tracks on Peguis Street, between Concordia Avenue and Prairie Crocus Drive, when he was hit by a westbound freight train just before 5 p.m., police said in a Saturday news release. 

The area of the collision was closed to traffic on Friday after the collision, but re-opened shortly after 9 p.m., a police spokesperson told CBC on Friday.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s traffic division continues to investigate.
