Around 7:30 Monday, Headingley RCMP were sent to Stony Mountain Institution about a report of a serious assault, according to a Tuesday news release.

When officers arrived at the facility just north of Winnipeg, they found a 37-year-old man who was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries, police said.
