A four-year-old boy who was seriously injured after he collided with a trailer being towed by a truck in Brandon, Man., earlier this week has died.

The boy was taken to Winnipeg’s Children’s Hospital in serious condition by air ambulance on Monday, after police say he ran into the side of a trailer that was being towed by a half-ton truck around 3:30 p.m.

He died in hospital late Tuesday night, the Brandon Police Service said in a Wednesday news release.

Witnesses told police the child ran from a parking lot on the north side of the 2400 block of Victoria Avenue and collided with the truck, which was heading westbound.

The child was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre before he was airlifted to Winnipeg.
