At least one person struck by train near University of Manitoba

Winnipeg police say an intersection just north of a train crossing near the University of Manitoba will be closed for several hours Sunday after a person was struck by a train.

Winnipeg police say an intersection just north of a train crossing near the University of Manitoba will be closed for several hours Sunday after a person was struck by a train.

City police said Sunday at least one person is in the hospital after the collision, which happened early in the evening by a train crossing near the intersection of Bison Drive and Pembina Highway, on the highway’s 2400 block.

Police said the person was taken to hospital in unstable condition. As of 7:15 p.m., several units were still on the scene to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Winnipeg police said it will be working with CN railway police on the investigation.
